Brake System
In Texas, the brake system is checked during a state vehicle inspection. Inspectors visually examine the brakes for wear and fluid levels, and test the parking brake for proper function. If repairs are needed, vehicle owners will receive a list of recommended fixes before passing inspection.
Vehicle Emissions
During a Texas state inspection, they check your vehicle’s emissions system to make sure it is functioning properly.
Headlights, Tail Lights & Signals
Headlights, taillights, and turn signals are all checked during Texas state inspection. The headlights must be bright enough to see at least 500 feet ahead of the vehicle. The taillights must be visible from at least 100 feet behind the vehicle. The turn signals must be working properly and visible from at least 500 feet to the front and rear of the vehicle. If any of these lights are not working properly, the vehicle will not pass inspection.
